Ich habe mir das Buch weniger als Lese-material, sondern mehr als Nachschlagewerk gekauft.Der Aufbau, die grafischen Darstellungen und Erklärungen hierzu machen es ideal für diesen Zweck. Somit kann hier beim entwickeln eine Scripts schon Rücksicht auf die Ideen und Wege genommen werden, wie die großen Cinematographen ihre Story vorantreiben und darstellen.Ein Ideales Buch.
Da hier nur eine Bewertung für das deutsche Amazon vorliegt und diese sich äusserst subjektiv über das Buch äussert versuche ich es mal zu relativieren.In erster Linie ist dieses Buch als Nachschlagewerk und/oder als Inspiration zur filmischen Auflösung von immer wiederkehrenden, inhaltlichen Motiven im Film konzipiert. Als solches ist es hervorragend.Das Buch ist in Kapitel unterteilt die die verschiedenen inhaltlichen Motive und Themen behandelt; es soll eine Szene gefilmt werden in der eine wichtige Person oder Gegenstand eingeführt wird? Das Buch bietet hierfür mehrere Techniken, bebildert mit Beispielen aus bekannten Filmen und zusätzlicher 3D Animationen um das Blocking und den Aufbau nachvollziehen zu können.Der Hauptdarsteller, und somit auch der Zuschauer, soll etwas entdecken? Ein Charakter soll gefürchtet werden? Die Hauptfigur ändert plötzlich ihre Meinung? Das Machtverhältnis von Personen soll gezeigt werden, oder es wechselt gar? Ein Charakter ist aggressiv, der andere defensiv? Ein visueller Schockmoment soll erzeugt werden?Für all diese Szenarien und viele mehr gibt es Beispiele wie die Kamera den gewünschten Inhalt transportieren kann.Die Techniken und Methoden sind bewährt und funktionieren - sie sind von den besten DoPs und Regisseuren über Jahrzehnte der Filmgeschichte entwickelt und angewandt worden.Der Punkt ist aber dass sie universell einsetzbar sind, eben weil sie funktionieren.Regisseure, DoPs, Schauspieler...gerade die besten von ihnen sind sich bewusst und bestätigen dass niemand das Rad neu erfindet und alle voneinander abschauen. Dieses Buch (und die anderen in dieser Reihe übrigens auch) ist mit das Beste das ich zum Thema kenne weil es nicht für die Theorie sondern die Praxis konzipiert ist;es inspiriert sofort, es reicht darin zu blättern um auf neue Ideen zu kommen, seine Anwendung sehe ich persönlich beim Script Breakdown aber auch am Set selbst kann es Goldwert sein.
Das Buch sieht schön aus und ist nett zum drin blättern.Es hat ein paar schöne Auflösungstricks bzw. eher -Beispiele ABER die erklärenden Text sind voller völlig unfundierter Rückschlüsse und Generalisierungen. Das ist zu 90% Interpretation und aus meiner Sicht häufiger mal Bulls*** .Das Konzept des Buchs (Kapitelunterteilung) ist eigentlich ganz schön, aber die Umsetzung ist fragwürdig. Für erfahrenere Leute teils super basic und Frischlinge drohen dem Bulls*** auf dem Leim zu gehen.Lieber "Die richtige Einstellung" (Shot by Shot) von Steven Katz kaufen!
